Shane Boyd (London School Trained)
Shane is self-admittedly tenacious and picky. He pays close attention to fine details and isn’t satisfied until the job is perfect. This quality is invaluable in the beauty world, where looking good and feeling great are paramount, especially in a barber shop in Qualicum.
Shane first tried his hand at barbering 20 years ago, but due to family commitments, he chose to leave that path to seek more stable employment and raise a family with dreams of home ownership.
Growing up in Vancouver before his family moved to the small town of Grand Forks, BC, Shane fondly remembers his father taking him to an old-school barber on the east side, where the seed for his barber dreams was first planted. After many years of reflection, the COVID-19 pandemic presented an opportunity for Shane to change direction and rekindle his passion for becoming a barber.
So, in June of 2020, he packed a suitcase, rented a room in a basement in Dunbar, and enrolled at London School on West Hastings in Vancouver to study 'Old School Barbering.' After graduating in January 2021, Shane plans to bring his unique blend of services to the Oceanside region, where he hopes to make a mark as 'Boyd the Barber' at Ocean Pacific Barber Co., established in 2021.
The future is bright, and Shane is ready to transform the experience at Ocean Pacific Barber Co.

Brian Michell (VIU Nanaimo Trained)
Brian comes to us from his former position as the “young guy” at Stuarts Barber Shop in Parksville, BC. After 18 years with Stuart’s, the beloved barber shop in Parksville, the owner retired, leading to the closure of the shop located in the owner's home. Considering his options for a new barber shop, Brian decided to meet with Shane in January 2023 to explore the idea of teaming up with Ocean Pacific. On February 1st, 2023, Brian “The Barber” Michell began his journey at Ocean Pacific in Qualicum Beach. Let’s all show him that OPB love and keep his chair full and clippers buzzing at this new barbershop in the area.
Murphy Boyd (VIU Nanaimo Trained)
Ready to make her big break in the world of hair, Murphy had grown up inside a barbershop in Qualicum. A trained hairstylist from the VIU Nanaimo campus, she graduated in December 2023. With a deep love for barbering, Murphy is dedicated to seeing the trade thrive, especially at her Dad’s own barbershop in qualicum. She aspires to master the straight edge razor but understands she needs more time to hone her skills. The future is beyond bright for the heir apparent of Ocean Pacific Barber Co! :)
